Ohio Republican Party Endorses Widener

This just in...
SPRINGFIELD, OH (2/8/08) - The Ohio Republican Party today announced the endorsement of Chris Widener, conservative Republican candidate for the Ohio State Senate. Widener continues to pick up support for his campaign by adding the state party to an already long list of endorsements.

Both the Greene County Republican Party, his opponent's home county, and the Madison County Republican Party have endorsed Widener, along with the Ohio Senate Republican Caucus, Ohio Right to Life, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, the Buckeye Firearms Association and many others including county and local public officials.

"Chris has worked very hard to promote the conservative ideals of the Republican Party and we're pleased to give him our full support," Ohio Republican Party Deputy Chairman Kevin DeWine said.

DeWine pointed to Widener's proven leadership in the House of Representatives on many issues including passing a 21% income tax cut, the largest in state history, and a state budget with the lowest increase in growth in nearly half a century.

"I'm humbled by the encouragement I've received, from across the whole district. My campaign is bolstered by the momentum we've been gathering," Widener said. "And to earn the endorsement of the State Republican Party just validates that I'm the true conservative in this race."

Widener, who currently serves Madison and portions of Clark and Greene counties in his fourth term as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives, has always worked to represent the conservative values of the area and has always taken the time to listen to the concerns of the area's residents. He'll continue that dedicated service to our community as our next state senator.
