Boehner on Employment Numbers

This just in...
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following this morning’s release of the monthly employment report by the U.S. Department of Labor, House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) once again warned against the massive tax increase passed by the Democratic Majority in Congress:

“Today’s jobs report is a fresh reminder that during these times of economic uncertainty, the very last thing stressed-out middle class families and small businesses need is a massive tax hike. While these families and employers deal with higher prices at the pump, at the supermarket, and elsewhere, the Democratic Majority has passed the largest tax increase in American history in order to finance a Big Government agenda that our nation neither wants nor can afford.

“House Republicans agree with Federal Reserve Board Chairman Bernanke, who once again warned Congress this week against raising taxes in the midst of our sluggish economy. The fact that congressional Democrats are raising taxes on every taxpayer – from families to investors to employers – is yet another sign of how out of touch this Congress has become. This economic slowdown gives both parties the opportunity to work together toward real, meaningful solutions on behalf of families and small businesses. While I am encouraged that American families will begin receiving tax rebate checks next month as part of the bipartisan economic growth package passed earlier this year, House Republicans will continue to fight for new tax relief for middle-class families, oppose wasteful Washington spending, and craft policies that encourage strong economic growth.”

NOTE: House Democrats recently passed an FY 2009 federal budget which:

· Raises federal spending by hundreds of billions of dollars to grow government programs;

· Includes the largest tax increase in American history;

· Raises taxes on every American taxpayer, including families, married couples, seniors, investors, and small businesses;

· Refuses to stop earmarks and begin real reform in how Washington spends taxpayer dollars; and

· Refuses to rein in entitlement spending in order to save Medicare for future generations.
Me? I blame Pelosi...but you knew that already...
