Blagojevich was supposed to represent a new day in Springfield, and therein lies a lesson for those Americans enamored of Barack Obama and his message of change. Illinois voters have some recent experience electing a young, ambitious, hard-charging Democrat who promised them a break from the past. Last November, over half of them said they would vote to recall him.
Sound like anyone we know? I'm thinking Marc "Ohio's Eliot Spitzer" Dann, Jenny Brunner and Ted Strickland myself... All of these people promised hope, peace, love and harmony and all we've seen from them is the usual acidic hyper-partisanship. I hope I'm wrong, but I suspect that -- in the long run -- these people are going to make the Taft administration look wholesome and good.
