"We're not going to let them get away with that kind of abuse of power."Surely, we're talking about shredding the Constitution here right. I mean, as we all know, Republicans only exist to illegally wiretap phone calls between two Americans (sorry, that was Baghdad Jim McDermott-D) or drop some bombs on Idaho or something.
So what is Brown so adament about?
If Sen. Brown didn't gavel in what is called a pro forma session of the Senate (basically, its a demonstration of how quickly two gavel bangs can be done), then President Bush might have been able to fill some spots on the bench. That's right, this is about judges.
And for the record, I think it is Sen. Brown who is out of line. If the Senate isn't in session conducting the nation's business, they are out of session and the president is authorized to fill vacancies when the Senate is not in session. If Democrats want to take a few days off, they should play by the rules; if not, get thee back to Washington and get some work done. Might I suggest starting with legislation that would increase our oil supply so gas prices can come down...
