Boehner: Obama Wrong for Ohio Families, Small Businesses

This just in...
WEST CHESTER, OH – House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) released the following statement today in advance of Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama’s campaign swing through Boehner’s home state of Ohio:

“Families and small businesses in my hometown are being hammered by $4 gasoline and Senator Obama’s policies would only drive our energy costs up even higher.

“Senator Obama admits that our demand for energy is ‘badly outstripping supply,’ but rather than supporting responsible solutions to increase American energy production and help bring down fuel costs, he's offering proposals to drive them up even further. He promises to slap higher taxes on natural gas which heats seventy percent of the homes in Ohio. And he says he would raise taxes on coal which provides nine-tenths of our electricity. Add in his additional tax hikes on seniors, small businesses, and married couples and an Obama presidency would spell economic disaster for Ohio.

“Obama even recently suggested that his only issue with higher gasoline prices is that they’ve risen too quickly, preferring a ‘gradual adjustment’ to $4 gas instead. I don't know about Obama's hometown, but in mine families would just assume pay lower gas prices.

“Barack Obama’s promise of ‘change’ is a warning to Ohio families and small businesses -- change is all they’ll have left after the higher energy costs and massive tax hikes of an Obama presidency.”
This message will resonate in Ohio...

UPDATE: The Ohio GOP has a handy fact sheet on Obama's record on these issues.
