RELEASE: Boehner and Dailey Offer Leadership on Energy

This just in...
(Zanesville, OH) – House Republican Leader John Boehner (OH-8) and Former State Agriculture Director and candidate for Congress in Ohio's 18th District Fred Dailey discussed the need to expand America's energy supply to help lower fuel costs, and the need for change in Eastern Ohio and Washington.

Leader Boehner talked about the importance of expanding energy exploration and production in the arctic coastal plane and deep ocean energy zones. "To help lower gas prices, Congress needs to act now to allow new drilling and production of American-made energy in an environmentally safe way," said Boehner. "But as gas prices reach $4, Zack Space voted for the largest tax increase in history and refuses to support straightforward measures to increase our energy supply and decrease our dependence on foreign oil."

Dailey reiterated Boehner's point about needing to expand drilling in America and said, "People in the 18th district have been helping their neighbors and our country for decades by allowing oil drilling on their property without detrimental effects. If it's working in the 18th district, it can work in places like Alaska and off our coasts." Dailey also talked about the need for investment in alternative energies. "We need to provide incentives to invest in alternative energies such as clean-coal technology and nuclear energy to make America more energy independent."

Boehner pointed to the Eighteenth Congressional District as an important piece in getting America on the road to energy independence by electing Fred Dailey to Congress.

"Fred Dailey is a reformer who shares the values and beliefs of this district and with his candidacy we have a great opportunity to elect a common-sense leader to represent Eastern Ohio in Washington" Leader Boehner stated. "This is going to be a very competitive race and the stark contrast between Fred Dailey and Zack Space will help return conservative leadership to Washington."

Dailey thanked the Leader for his kind words and pledged to the people of the 18th district that he will restore integrity and strong leadership for them in Washington. Dailey closed by promising to, "work hard every day between now and November 4th to get my message of returning common-sense, results-oriented leadership to Washington to every voter in the district."
