WMD Blast

One of the co-workers on my team is out today, so blogging is likely to be light, but here are a few things I've noticed so far today...

  • Take a sneak peek at the Cuyahoga County GOP's blog...

  • Day 3 of Where's the Proof? -- As commenter John said:
Any sheriff that thinks its ok for men to be present when a woman is forcibly stripped "for her own safety" is ready for replacement.

Even as a CBS legal analyst, retired police trainer and even a fellow county sheriff say that it was an assault against Hope Steffy. (Plus the majority of people that have seen the videos.)

All of these officers need jail time.

  • Over at Human Events, John Gizzi notes something we've known all along: Speaker of State Pelosi supports the Hush Rush Bill also known as the "Fairness" Doctrine. Here is what Rep. Mike Pence had to say:
“One year ago, over 300 Democrats and Republicans stood together to oppose efforts to restore the so-called ‘Fairness Doctrine’ to the airwaves of this country for a single year – it was an encouraging vote.

“But following that vote, I introduced the Broadcaster Freedom Act which would permanently ban the ‘Fairness Doctrine’ from ever coming back. And so far, not one single House Democrat has signed our petition for an up-or-down vote on broadcast freedom…and now we know why.

“Asked yesterday if she supported reviving the ‘Fairness Doctrine,’ Speaker Nancy Pelosi replied ‘yes.’

“She told a meeting at the Christian Science Monitor that the Broadcaster Freedom Act would not receive a vote because ‘the interest of my caucus is the reverse.’

“I say to Speaker Pelosi with respect:

“‘Defending freedom is the paramount interest of every Member of the American Congress.’

“I urge my Democrat colleagues to take a stand for freedom. Oppose the Democrat leadership’s plan to censor the airwaves of American talk radio and American Christian radio.

“Sign the discharge petition for Broadcast Freedom, and help us send the ‘Fairness Doctrine’ to the ash heap of broadcast history, where it belongs.”
And here is REpublican Leader, my Congressman and a Great American -- John Boehner:
“The so-called ‘Fairness Doctrine’ embraced by the Speaker yesterday is nothing short of an attack on free speech. Last year, 309 House Members supported a bipartisan, one-year moratorium on implementing the so-called Fairness Doctrine, a policy aimed squarely at rationing and regulating the free speech rights of specifically targeted audiences. This sensible bipartisan moratorium should now be extended into a permanent ban. I’m disappointed to learn that instead of supporting efforts by our colleagues Mike Pence (R-IN) and Greg Walden (R-OR) to implement a permanent extension of the bipartisan moratorium, the Speaker has formally endorsed policies that would allow the so-called Fairness Doctrine and its attack on free speech in America to move forward.

“Let’s be honest. The Fairness Doctrine is an undisguised attack on freedom itself. It is nothing less than a sweeping takeover by Washington bureaucrats of broadcast media, and it is designed to squelch conservative speech on the airwaves. I urge all my House colleagues who supported last year’s moratorium to immediately sign Rep. Pence’s discharge petition to force floor consideration of his bill to prevent the return of the so-called Fairness Doctrine. The Fairness Doctrine is wrong and should be banned by this Congress.”
