House Republicans Unveil Health Care Reform Agenda

This just in...
WASHINGTON, DC – House Republicans today unveiled a comprehensive agenda for American health care reform aimed at reducing health care costs through lawsuit reform and putting patients back in control of their personal health care. House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement on the reform plan, which is available here:

“Rising health costs and skyrocketing gas prices are putting a vicious squeeze on American family budgets, and the policies of this Democratic Congress are only making the problem worse. A Republican majority will deliver the reforms needed to bring relief to American families and put patients back in charge of their health care.

“This agenda is the product of many months of hard work by many different members of our Conference, and I’m very pleased with their work. It offers a vision for health care reform that contrasts sharply with the failed policies advocated by the current majority. Instead of forcing Americans into a Washington-run health care program, we’ll pass reforms to reduce costs and ensure personal healthcare decisions are made by patients, their families, and their doctors. Instead of offering more lawsuits, more bureaucracy, and diminishing choices for patients and their families, we’ll pass reforms to eliminate junk lawsuits and red tape and put patients in control.

“A Republican majority will work to guarantee access to affordable, high-quality, patient-centered health care for every American. Through this reform agenda and the other reforms Republicans have put forth, we’re showing Americans we’re ready to lead where the current majority has failed.”
