RELEASE: Boccieri Off to a Bad Start

This just in...
(Canton) – This past week Youngstown Senator John Boccieri’s Congressional Campaign showed signs that he’s not getting off to a great start with the voters here in the 16th Congressional District.

1. Rahm Emanuel misses Boccieri’s gas pump gimmick in Canton and Boccieri himself shows up late to his own stunt.

2. Voters surprise Boccieri by actually asking for energy solutions at his gas pumping stunt, and then post video of his failed answers on YouTube.

3. Boccieri announces an “energy plan” that doesn’t include accessing our nation’s natural resources, putting him at odds with almost 75% of Americans. (Zogby International Poll, June 26th, 2008).

4. Boccieri is chastised for spending yet more time outside the district, this time at an Akron fundraiser with Rahm Emanuel.

5. Boccieri’s “top endorsement” (according to his own website) Wesley Clark had the audacity to question Sen. John McCain’s military service record. Clark’s comments were not only audacious but shameful. Voters are tired of this sort of offensive political campaigning and John Boccieri should openly reject and distance himself from the comments made by Wesley Clark.

“If this week’s campaign is indicative of how John Boccieri is going to run for Congress then that’s sad because voters of this district deserve more than the typical Washington style negative politics,” said Stark County Republican Party Chairman Jeff Matthews. “Voters aren’t interested in political gimmicks; they want real solutions like accessing our own natural resources to lower gas prices now and end our nation’s dependence on foreign oil.”
