Group representing 150,000 registered nurses works for the improvement of health standards and the availability of health care services for all people
SPRINGFIELD, OH (07/25/08) - The Ohio Nurses Association Political Contributing Entity has announced its endorsement of Chris Widener, candidate for the Ohio Senate.
"Chris Widener demonstrated support for nurses and their healthcare concerns for the
public," said Aimee Vance, RN, Chair of ONA-PCE. "We are pleased to be able
to urge nurses and others to vote for them on November 4th," Vance said.
"Healthcare is a critical issue facing Ohio," Widener said. "I am pleased to have received the support of such a well respected group in the Health Care community." The Ohio Nurses Association is a multi-purpose professional association for Registered Nurses in the state of Ohio that works for the improvement of health standards and the availability of health care services for all people; fosters high standards of nursing; and stimulates and promotes the professional development of registered nurses and advance their economic and general welfare. The Ohio Nurses Association is the recognized advocate for nurses and nursing issues in the state representing the over 150,000 registered nurses in Ohio. As the 4th largest state association of its kind in the country, ONA's mission is to enhance the nursing profession in the service of quality health care to Ohioans.
Widener is a licensed architect and has owned his own firm for more than 18 years. Prior to starting his own business he was the first full-time Historic Preservation Officer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and served as a civil service architect.
Widener currently represents Madison County and portions of Clark and Greene Counties in his fourth term as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives. As a legislator, he worked to cut personal income taxes by 21 percent, provided much needed prescription drug coverage for 1.4 million Ohio seniors without any additional costs to taxpayers and helped pass a state budget with the lowest growth in spending in nearly half a century.
