More Palin Reaction

  • Richard Viguerie: “McCain has chosen to balance his ticket with a principled conservative. Governor Palin’s life story is one of sticking to principle. She is living proof that a person can take on the corrupt political establishment – including corrupt leaders in her own party – and achieve great things,” ... “Congratulations to John McCain for hearing and responding to conservatives. Conservatives, the base of the party, have been listless. But, now, nearly all will work enthusiastically for the McCain-Palin ticket. In fact, this is the most enthusiastic conservatives have been since the era for Ronald Reagan.” ... “This is a grand-slam home run. Conservatives’ feet haven’t touched the ground since this announcement.”

  • “I don’t know anything about her personally, but having a woman on the ticket will help offset the mistake Obama made in choosing Biden instead of Hillary,” said Carlos Todd, former chairman of Ohio’s Butler County Republican Party. [Source]

  • Sen. George Voinovich: "I'm very excited that she's truly a Washington outsider -- we don't have enough people in Washington who understand the importance of local and state government. Ohio families are hurting, and a mother of five may be just what it takes to put their problems first in Washington." [Source]

  • Rep. Betty Sutton (D): "I think he's mistaken if he thinks women just vote for women because they're women. Women vote for women they know to be qualified for the job." [Source]

  • Rep. Steve LaTourette: Palin is "a great choice that will create excitement for the ticket." [Source]

  • Ohio Democratic Party Executive Director Doug Kelly: "Today's announcement was an act of political desperation by the McCain campaign, but it does not alter the fact that the Republican ticket promises Ohioans more of the same." [Source]

  • Sen. Sherrod Brown (D): "Their first important decision as a possible future president is who they'll select to be a heartbeat away from the presidency, and John McCain failed miserably in this first major judgment call." [Source]

  • President George W. Bush: "By selecting a working mother with a track record of getting things done, Sen. McCain has once again demonstrated his commitment to reforming Washington." [Source]

  • This is what Democrats and Republicans really think about working mothers...remember it well... I especially like Sen. Brown's assertion that working moms can't be president of the United States. Good one, Charade!

More of the same? I don't think the Ohio Democratic Party is in a position to lecture anybody on "more of the same". What, exactly, has T-Shirt Ted and the Ohio Democrats done that Boob Taft and his ilk didn't do? Ohio is seeing more of the same right now and I gotta tell you, McCain/Palin doesn't look like T-Shirt Ted to me.

And the guy who is looking like a genius right now? Believe it or not, it's The Crying Man, our Senator RINOvich, the Deficit "Hawk"...his comments are right on target.
