COLUMBUS - The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation's Agriculture for Good Government Political Action Committee today named State Senator Kirk Schuring a "Friend of Agriculture" in this November's general election.
Schuring, R-Jackson Township, is seeking election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio's 16th District.
OFBF is the state's largest general farm organization representing more than 230,000 member families. The award is given to candidates deemed best able to represent the interests of Ohio's citizens and Ohio Farm Bureau members.
Schuring said receiving the Ohio Farm Bureau designation is an honor.
"Much of northeast Ohio is supported by small family farms and it's an integral part of our economy. Agriculture in our state is a $93 billion industry and it is important to represent the needs of the farming community in our district," Schuring said.
Current legislators running for re-election receive the designation based on their voting record on key bills identified as top priorities for the Ohio Farm Bureau.

Candidates running for open seats are selected based on their answers to a survey and an interview with local Ohio Farm Bureau volunteers.
