RELEASE: U.S. Chamber Endorses Schuring For Congress

This just in...

CANTON - State Senator Kirk Schuring gained a valuable endorsement in the race for Ohio's 16th Congressional District today when the U.S. Chamber of Commerce gave him its official support.

Schuring said the endorsement "is very encouraging" and said he has a strong record of working to help business and bolster our economy during his 15 years as an Ohio lawmaker.

"To be called a friend to Ohio business is certainly something that I value tremendously. Given the current challenges facing our economy, it is critically important to have the support of those who know what it takes to boost our economy and create jobs."

Schuring, who unveiled his jobs plan at The Wooster Brush Company two weeks ago, said job creation and retention are crucial for the 16th district to remain competitive.

"First, I want to level the playing field for companies that do business in our district. Second, I want to equip them with the tools necessary to compete and win in the global marketplace. I am committed to continuing my strong record of advocacy for economic development in the U.S. House of Representatives," Schuring said.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today announced its endorsement of State Senator J. Kirk Schuring for election in Ohio's 16th Congressional District, praising his strong support for Ohio businesses, both large and small.

"Kirk Schuring has been a champion for the people of central Ohio and an invaluable leader on important business and domestic energy issues," said Bill Miller, the U.S. Chamber's senior vice president and political director.

"The Chamber believes Senator Schuring will continue to be an effective legislator and supporter of businesses and communities of all sizes if elected to Congress. Kirk has worked to advocate programs and initiatives important to central Ohio with regard to worker's compensation reform, civil justice reform and tax reform.

"On issues ranging from civil justice to environmental responsibility, Ohio's business community has no better friend than Kirk Schuring," said Miller.

The U.S. Chamber plans to play a big role in the upcoming national elections, endorsing candidates who have demonstrated support for business priorities and will work to advance a pro-growth agenda in Congress. In 2006, 222 of the 277 Chamber endorsed candidates were elected.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation, representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
