...and why did he get a fundraising letter from Rep. Jean Schmidt?
Daniel Hoffheimer is a lawyer with Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. He is also a contributer to the Democrats. He's given money to Obama and Kerry, Cranley and Driehaus (OH-01), Vic Wulsin (OH-02), and Sherrod Brown. (Source: FEC search)
This is no ordinary Democrat. According to this Keith Olbermann blog, Hoffheimer was John Kerry's lead lawyer in Ohio. It's Olbermann and it is MSNBC, so it HAS to be true...Hoff appears to be one of those who fanned the flames of the 2004 was stolen crowd before having to concede that the Kerry/Edwards team found "no conspiracy and no fraud" in Ohio.
On the other hand, he is also a contributer to WGUC, Cincinnati's classical music station, so he can't be all bad.
Note to Republicans in the Great State of Ohio: I'd run a check on your mailing lists and stop sending material to this guy. It is a waste of postage. Send it to somebody who is actually on our side...
UPDATE: Yes, it is odd that our friends at PolitickerOH failed to mention who this guy was...why do you ask?
...
Oh...because there was some question as to whether or not the fundraising letter was a legitimate piece of campaign mail? Seems then that Mr. Hoff's background might have shed some validity on the confusion...
What's that?
...
Yeah, that does explain why the campaign spokesman -- who indicated to the reporter that he hadn't sen the piece -- might be suspicious. I'm pretty sure I'd be suspicious of Kerry/Edwards' lawyer too.
...
No, I haven't seen this letter either...somebody ought to scan that bad boy and make it available.
...
Yeah, I thought the article got a little off base when it ventured back in to malariotherapy too; but it's Vic Wulsin, so what are you going to do?
...
Oh, that was in the letter? Well, why didn't you say so.
Say, isn't it odd that Team Wuslin is complaining about oil in Cuba instead of malariothereapy? Yeah, I think so too...
UPDATE 2: I have no idea whether or not the letter was genuine or not...I haven't seen it.
UPDATE 3: MALARIOTHERAPY RETURNS! -- Oh yeah, I'm just going to take it at Steve Black's word...sure, I'm so totally going to do that.
