Putting the Palin Bridge to Nowhere Nonsense to Rest...

HT to SOBer Taxmanblog:
Conservative bloggers point out that in their campaign against Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, Alaska Democrats gave credit to Gov. Palin for helping to kill the Bridge to Nowhere.“Gov. Sarah Palin said the $398 million bridge was $329 million short of full funding, and only $36 million in federal funds were set aside for it," the Democrats say. "She said it was clear Congress had little interest in spending any more money for it and that the state had higher priorities."

On another page the Dems say, “Gov. Palin recently cancelled the Gravina Island Bridge near Ketchikan that would have connected the Alaska mainland with Gravina Island (population: 50)."

Wow, so much for that she has been lying about killing the Bridge....but wait, let's talk about her hair and lipstick...yeah, that's the ticket....

See Jake Tapper's story....

BOOHOO...OUCH.

UPDATE: Nixguy discusses the Club for Growth on Palin and the Bridge:
All the carping over the Gravina Island bridge was to drive a wedge between Palin and budget hawks and show Palin as less than truthful.

Epic fail. The Club for Growth is now giving Sarah Palin excellent cover on this issue. As they point out. The bridge was killed and she killed it. Given the CfG’s history of going after Republicans, this is no small thing. Instead, Obama’s focus on this issue risks bringing up the larger context of earmarks, and he doesn’t do so well there, while McCain/Palin would love to engage on that debate.

Perhaps that’s why the bridge is still in the stump speech, to the constant annoyance of liberals, and perhaps they know what they’re doing.
