  • STATEMENTS:

Republican Leader, my Congressman and a Great American -- John Boehner -- on requesting federal aid for storm-ravaged Ohio:
“Ohio’s congressional delegation is committed to ensuring that our constituents in the Buckeye state have the resources they will need to rebuild after the dangerous and devastating wind storms. My thoughts and prayers are with those who lost loved ones or were injured. My office is in constant contact with state and local jurisdictions to see how we can be of help as we all work together to help those hardest hit.”
And here is his letter to the President:
    Dear Mr. President:

We are writing in support of Governor Ted Strickland’s request for a statewide federal emergency declaration in Ohio as a result of a wind storm that occurred on September 14, 2008.

Hurricane level gusts of wind across the state left almost two million households and businesses in Ohio without power. Tragically, these wind gusts were also responsible for the loss of at least five lives. Some 84 Ohio counties have reported damages and outages due to the wind storm, and at least 450 schools were closed. We are told that the damage is severe enough that the outpouring of local, state and voluntary efforts still leaves significant needs unmet. We therefore believe federal assistance is necessary to ensure the health and safety of Ohioans in these counties.

We fully support Governor Strickland’s request for a federal emergency declaration and urge your prompt consideration of his request in accordance with all relevant rules, laws and regulations. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
    BUTLER COUNTY:

    This just in:
On Friday, September 12th, the Butler County GOP hosted "A Party With A Purpose" at the Savannah Center in West Chester. Over 125 guests attended this mixer, and newcomers had the opportunity to mingle with current Party Members and elected officials including Congressman John Boehner, who spoke briefly about the excitement behind the the McCain/Palin ticket. Guests enjoyed drinks and appetizers, and had the chance to win sports memorabilia, McCain t-shirts and buttons, and other items generously donated by local candidates. The event was a big success, and we look forward to welcoming all the new faces who attended into our Party. Thank you to those of you who took part and recruited guests for the event. We appreciate your support.
