Corsi in Kenya: An Obama Connection?

Unless you've been in a cave, you already know that Obama Nation author and conspiracy nut Jerome Corsi has been detained in Kenya. Here is a bit from the State Department press conference on the subject:
QUESTION: The author of Obama Nation was held by immigration authorities in Kenya. They’re not very happy about the tone of his book and – anyway, I just wondered whether you had been approached to intervene and help this author out who was detained, whether you had any details of the --

MR. WOOD: Well, we understand an American has been detained in Kenya. Our Embassy is looking into those reports. We do not have a Privacy Act waiver with regard to this individual, so I’m not at liberty to comment further on it.

QUESTION: Well, I’m sorry; I just have to bring this up. You don’t have a Privacy Act waiver? This guy is yakking away to every – anyone and – anyone who will talk to him, including his own group, the WorldNetDaily, which has, you know, an extended interview with him talking about this. It strikes me as absolutely bizarre that you guys are unable to say anything about this when this guy is, on his own, publicizing his case. Has anyone from the Embassy been in contact with him to get him to sign one of these Privacy Act waivers? Is he even aware that they exist?

MR. WOOD: Matt, all I can tell you is our Embassy is dealing with the issue. But again, it’s standard policy for the State Department not to comment on these particular cases unless we have --

QUESTION: Usually until someone comes out --

MR. WOOD: -- a Privacy Act --

QUESTION: -- and speaks publicly about it, and he is talking to absolutely everybody.

MR. WOOD: Well, we need a Privacy Act waiver before we can go forward. That’s about the best answer I can give you at this point.
Okay...that didn't really tell us much... What's this about? Near as I can tell, Corsi was doing some research and was planning to say some rather unpleasant things about Raila Odinga, the Kenyan prime minister. See this Times of London piece for more on that. (HT: Media Blog on NRO)

All of that brings me to this piece on Canada Free Press and a YouTube video that I have not been able to spend much time on vetting. I present it here so that the WMD audience may examine the evidence presented and decide for themselves.

A few things worth noting:

  • The connection between Odinga and Obama starts around the 6:20 mark, but the material before it is valuable for understanding Odinga.

  • I do NOT think this will be particularly damaging to Obama's election bid.

  • I do think that Odinga is yet another violent and radical socialist who ought not be considered a friend of someone running for the office of the President of the United States.

  • I also think that Obama has several other friends just like Odinga... Ayers, Dohrn, and Wright to name just a few.

  • Lastly, I still think Corsi is a conspiracy nut and shouldn't be trusted.

  • A NOTE ON COMMENTS: Let's be respectful of one another. I'm not making any assertions here. There may be a perfectly reasonable and rational explanation for all of this. If there is one, I'd like to hear it...

UPDATE: There is a LOT of material to digest in this thing. I got some time to dig in to some of it and it appears a good deal of this stuff is being reported by Snopes as nonsense. It looks like Snopes came to this conclusion by reading a few articles and doing their thing, so I can certain respect Corsi for going out and checking on it himself.
