LATTA ATTENDS GRAND OPENING OF FOSTORIA ETHANOL PLANT

Release:
BOWLING GREEN- Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) attended the ribbon cutting for the POET Biorefining facility near Fostoria, Ohio today where he delivered remarks during the grand opening ceremony. The Fostoria Biorefining facility will produce approximately 65 million gallons of ethanol and 178,000 tons of Dakota Gold Brand Dried Distillers Grains with Solubles (DDGS) annually, with annual gross sales of over $100 million. The facility is also expected to bring up to 40 jobs for the region.

“As energy demands continue to grow in the United States, the nation’s dependency on Middle Eastern Oil must decline. The POET Biorefining facility is an important piece of our energy plan to help reduce that dependency by producing clean burning ethanol, economic growth, and jobs to northwest Ohio. This plant also gives area farmers another marker for their grain.” Latta said during his remarks.

Latta added “Northwest Ohio is a model area for alternative energy where wind, solar, and biofuel energy is abundant and efficient. The solution to our energy problem is complex and with more biorefining facilities like the Fostoria plant, we as a country can continue to move towards an energy plan that is practical for our short and long-term needs.”
