MIAMI TWP. – Rep. Jean Schmidt was hit by a car while jogging in this Clermont County community Wednesday. The driver didn’t stop, she told police. She appears not to be hurt too bad and that's good because she's going to be in great shape to beat Vic Wulsin and David the Angry Armenian Krikorian.
Schmidt, 56, suffered minor injuries, but is recovering, said Barry Bennett, her chief of staff.

The hit-and-run appears to have been an accident, Bennett said.
The driver hasn’t been located, said Chief R. Steven Bailey of the Miami Township Police Department.
Schmidt, who is a former Miami Township trustee, was running alongside Loveland-Miamiville Road about 5:45 a.m. when she was struck by a car traveling toward her, according to the police report.
“I saw a car approaching, and the driver seemed to be driving very close to the road’s edge,” Schmidt said. “The driver kept getting closer. I moved onto the grass and realized the driver was going to hit me. So I turned my back to the car. He hit me, and it threw me into the ditch.”
The car struck her in the right hip, Bennett said.
The accident happened near the entrance to the Oasis Shores subdivision, Schmidt told police.
It was dark and cloudy at the time, but Schmidt told police she was wearing a reflective vest with a light and a white hat.
“The driver never stopped – didn’t even slow down,” Schmidt said.
WMD extends our best wishes for a quick recovery.
