The State Races

In an earlier post, Matt covered the Enquirer endorsements of Combs and Cates and Matt was absolutely correct in his analysis of Representative Combs and Senator Cates. These two men are the epitome of good government and faithful to their constituency and they are connected to the political pulse along with some great ideas to improve the quality of our lives.

I cannot speak to the qualifications of the two other candidates mentioned in his piece, however Bill Coley in the 55th House Seat and Tim Derickson in the 53rd House Seat certainly deserve our merit and attention. Bill is active in his community and his wife Carolyn is a dynamic person who works very hard. Tim Derickson is a person who deeply cares about people and he will be an effective leader who will strive to do his very best. We sometimes lose sight of just how important these seats are and it is possible the dynamics could be very different in the next term.

We also have an Attorney General race with a candidate who thinks Butler County is important as he just 'dropped by' at our annual picnic held last Sunday. Mike Crites is a focused candidate who is really working his heart out and I know if elected, he would be outstanding, truly qualified to lead that office. Maureen O'Connor and Evelyn Stratton aka the "velvet hammer" are immensely qualified to continue in their service to us as Supreme Court Justices.
