Uhh...
I got nothing for this...
Really...I'm actually speechless...
Maybe I should just run the release...
Columbus – The Crites for Attorney General campaign today issued its final ad of the campaign, a parody of one of the most widely viewed viral videos in Internet history. The new web ad, titled “Running Rich” follows professional politician Richard Cordray as he runs for eight offices in 18 years.
“Running Rich” takes its lead from the popular “Dancing Matt” videos (www.wherethehellismatt.com) which show the main character Matt dancing in different locations throughout the world and which have been seen by more than 11 million viewers online, according to figures on YouTube.
The “Running Rich” spot features Richard Cordray (portrayed by an actor) as he dances his way across Ohio during his eight runs for office over the last 18 years.
“Clearly this new spot is intended to be light-hearted, but the message is quite serious,” Crites Campaign Manager Dan Baker said. “Richard Cordray is simply another professional politician who hops from office to office on his way up the political ladder.”
Baker noted that Cordray had only served approximately 17 months of his four-year term as State Treasurer before throwing his hat into the ring for Attorney General – an office he ran for once before in 1998.
The video’s final frame shows Cordray dancing in front of Wachovia Bank. Cordray, as state treasurer, received a $10,000 contribution from the stepdaughter of a state contractor with Wachovia and subsequently increased Wachovia’s business by 3,700 percent. The donation is alleged to be illegal – the funds having actually come from the girls’ mother. If this proves true, Cordray could be forced to forfeit the office of Attorney General should he be elected in November. The matter is currently pending before the Ohio Elections Commission.
“In the wake of scandal created by disgraced former Attorney General Marc Dann, the last thing Ohio needs is an Attorney General who is more focused on his next political step than he is on running the office,” Baker said.
