Mt. Vernon, OH – Barack Obama sure is comfortable with San Franciscans. First, he told them that rural people - like those in the 18th Congressional District – cling to their guns and religion. Now, we've learned that he told them he would "bankrupt" the coal industry.
"So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted." (Newsbusters.org)
And who can forget Joe Biden's infamous words at a rally near Toledo in September:
"We're not supporting clean coal. Guess what? China's building two every week … two dirty coal plants. It's polluting the United States, and it's causing people to die. … China's gonna burn 300 years of bad coal unless we figure out how to clean their coal up and it's going to ruin your lungs and there's nothing we can do about it. No coal plants here in America. Build them – if they're going to build them – over there and make them clean because they're killing you."
And then there's Zack Space:
"I make no bones about it: I support Obama. I am fully supportive of him." Columbus Dispatch, 8/20/2008
"This is disgraceful," said 18th Congressional District candidate Fred Dailey. "Our coal jobs are the lifeblood of our economy. We're already struggling. We can't afford for our mines to go bankrupt, but that's clearly what will happen in an Obama-Biden administration with Zack Space's blessing. One of Zack Space's very first votes in Congress was against clean-coal technology. He's not taken a single vote during his time there that will create a single drop or watt of American energy. He's voted against drilling. And he voted against our jobs."
"Zack Space should immediately denounce Obama and tell him that it's not coal that's killing us: it will be the radical environmental policies and job-killing tax hikes that Obama will enact."
