Columbus, Ohio - GOP State Central Committee candidate Jennifer Elicson today filed a complain with the Ohio Elections Commission alleging the Ohio Republican Party has violated campaign laws with an ongoing postcard campaign promoting her opponent, Jo Ann Davidson.
According to Elicson, the state party has included false or misleading wording in their postcard campaign stating that Ms. Davidson is endorsed by them when she is not. "The Ohio Republican Party readily admits that they are promoting State Central Committee candidates in violation of the own rules, and Ohio Elections law, yet they continue this postcard campaign," says Elicson.
In her complaint, Elicson states, "There are dozens of contested races for Republican State Central Committee throughout the State of Ohio where the Ohio Republican Party has made similar false statements promoting certain candidates in those races, claiming that one was “endorsed by the Ohio Republican Party,” when the same is not true in those races either."
State Central Committee candidate Thea Shoemake, of Cincinnati, has recently filed a similar complaint, and other candidates across Ohio are considering the same action.
