Liberty Township Receives Two Strong Independent Audit Reports

Release:
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio – During a time when more and more government entities are receiving failing grades from their constituents, Liberty Township officials received a near perfect report card from the State Auditor.

Even with the dismal economy, local officials have a reason to be proud of their financial condition. That is what the results of an independent audit have done for Liberty Township.
Cassidy, Schiller and Associates have released their financial audit for 2007 and 2008 for Liberty Township. The results could hardly be better. No financial reporting errors were found, strong business growth was noted, and an increase in the Township’s bond rating from Aa3 to Aa2 was especially illustrated.
“We worked very hard to keep the township in order and move Liberty forward financially,” says Roger Reynolds, former Fiscal Officer for Liberty Township and Butler County Auditor since April of 2008. “When the economic downturn hit, financial preparations were in place. We’ve implemented strong internal controls and diversified our revenue sources. We all believed in the township’s potential. The sky is the limit for Liberty Township.”
“It is definitely a team effort, and a lot of hard work that paid off,” says Pam Quinlisk, current Liberty Fiscal Officer, regarding the successful audit reports. “The work that the Trustees and other township employees have put in to create the finance districts, the projects we have completed and the business opportunities that have been created as a result took a great deal of effort. There is more to do, but we are in a good place for continued success.”
Several factors were mentioned in the report as financial highlights. The Township has TIF (tax increment financing), JEDD (joint economic development district) and RID (residential incentive district) revenues that have allowed creativity in creating business and residential opportunity. Also and perhaps most important, the books were managed extremely well by Quinlisk and Finance Director Kristen Bitonte.
“We have done a lot of positive things to move Liberty Township forward,” says Township Trustee Christine Matacic. “I am proud of our entire team and particularly proud of Roger Reynolds and Pam Quinlisk for expertly guiding our finances with such professionalism and skill. Excellent audit reports for two consecutive years do not happen by accident. We are set up for a great deal of success for years to come.”
