OH-09: Iott Statement on Unemployment Report

Release:
Rich Iott, Republican candidate for Ohio's 9th Congressional District, issued the following statement in response to the September Unemployment Report released today:

"The September jobs report released today shows that unemployment continues to hold steady at 9.6%, proving that the policies of big government spending are not working for families and small businesses.

"The positions that Rep. Kaptur has promoted - more out-of-control government spending and more job-killing programs like cap-and-trade - are a failure and a sure-fire path to continued high unemployment for people in the 9th District.

"Despite the promise of billions of dollars available from the government for new lending for small businesses, job providers are not going out on a limb because of the extreme uncertainty in the market.  Small business owners - many of whom file as individuals - still wonder what is going happen to their tax rates because Rep. Kaptur and other Democrats decided to adjourn instead of extending the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts.

"Even worse than the lack of jobs, Rep. Kaptur believes that government is the solution to the problem.  She stated in a recent debate that when the private sector doesn't create jobs at the rate it 'should,' government needs to step in.

"This latest report confirms Rep. Kaptur's complete lack of comprehension about the private sector and what it takes for job growth to actually occur.

"It's time for us elect to Congress an individual who has actually created jobs."
