Rep. Gibbs: Washington's Job-Destroying Spending Spree is Over

Rep. Bob Gibbs (R, OH-18)
Release:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Bob Gibbs today released the following statement regarding the passage of H.R. 1, the Full Year Continuing Appropriations Act of 2011, by a vote of 235 to 189.

“Last night, I voted for the largest reduction in discretionary spending in the history of our nation.  H.R. 1 is over five times larger than any other discretionary cut package ever considered by the House, representing a significant and historic step towards addressing Washington’s out-of-control government spending.

“The House has now done its part to begin the multi-step process to remove barriers to job creation by getting spending under control.  I hope that the Senate and the President will follow.  They must get to work on serious spending cuts and stop threatening to shut down the federal government so we can get this nation back on a sustainable financial path.”
