Boehner On Ending Unnecessary Taxpayer Subsidies For NPR

Release:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) released the following statement today after the House of Representatives approved H.R. 1076, legislation by Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-CO) that would end unnecessary taxpayer subsidies for National Public Radio (NPR):

“With Washington borrowing 40 cents out of every dollar it spends, the American people are looking to Congress to rein in unnecessary spending that’s piling more debt on the backs of our kids and grandkids and adding to the uncertainty facing job creators. Every dollar counts, and taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to subsidize a radio network that by its own admission does not need taxpayer dollars to thrive.”

NOTE: Over the course of the last week alone, the House has also voted to begin shutting down costly taxpayer-funded bailout programs and to cut another $6 billion in discretionary spending (bringing the five week total to $10 billion).
