A plane carrying Brown County Clerk of Courts Tina Meranda and her family crashed Wednesday night in upstate New York.
The single-engine plane was trying to land on an airstrip at Kline Airport in Ghent, New York. The plane clipped a tree and crashed into a pond.
The Meranda Family was able to escape before the plane sank.
The pilot, Seth Meranda is recovering after suffering from a back injury. The Clerk of Courts Tina Meranda has a broken collar bone. Both of their children are okay.
The Meranda Family issed the following statement this morning through the hospital:
“We are grateful for the prompt response from emergency medical responders and the excellent care we’ve received at Albany Medical Center. Fortunately, everyone is on their way to a full recovery.”
Seth is Tina's husband. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Meranda family. Mrs. Meranda has been travelling to and from Massachusetts for cancer treatments for several months now. She has been battling the disease for a few years.
As most regular readers know, Ms. Meranda and I have had our battles. However, I am so very happy that she and her family made it out of the plane and are recovering. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Meranda family.
