Kasich Applauds Resolution Supporting Loan Guarantee for Major Energy Project

COLUMBUS – Today Gov. John R. Kasich issued the following statement regarding the passage of SCR4, a concurrent resolution supporting the issuance of a U.S. Department of Energy loan guarantee for USEC (the United States Enrichment Corporation) Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant:

“I applaud the Ohio General Assembly for this resolution urging the Obama Administration to act quickly on USEC’s loan guarantee application. The American Centrifuge Plant will create nearly 4,000 jobs in Ohio and will place the state front and center on the world energy stage. The plant will have significant energy, national security, and environmental benefits for the United States, and will bring much-need economic development to a part of Ohio desperate for jobs. USEC has already invested more than $2 billion into the project over the past decade, and having visited the facility, I have seen firsthand how ready the project is for commercial operations. It is time for the Obama Administration to issue a conditional loan guarantee commitment so the project can move forward.”
