Ohio House Republicans Announce Candidates for 55th House District

COLUMBUS—Ohio House Speaker William G. Batchelder (R-Medina) and members of the House Republican Caucus today announced the slate of candidates who have applied for appointment to the vacant 55th House District seat.

Speaker Pro Tempore Lou Blessing (R-Cincinnati), who will chair the screening panel, will be joined by Reps. Christina Hagan (R-Alliance), Anne Gonzales (R-Westerville), Cliff Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) and Lynn Wachtmann (R-Napoleon) in interviewing the applicants.

“My colleagues and I are looking forward to carefully considering and selecting the best candidate to serve as representative of the 55th District,” Blessing said. “We are very impressed by the strong list of individuals who have expressed interest in taking on this responsibility, and we look forward to working with the Butler County Republican Party in finding the best person to fill the vacancy.”

The House Republican screening panel will meet to screen candidates on Monday, June 6th in Columbus. The Speaker's office will contact individual candidates who met today's 5 p.m. deadline with a time for screening.

The full Republican Caucus will vote on filling the 55th House District vacancy following the screening, and the new member will be appointed during House session on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 8th.
