Romney Was a Pawn in DeWine vs Kasich?

Our good friend Tom Blumer of BizzyBlog.com provides a pretty decent overview of what happened. Check it out first if you don't know what this is about.

Over at the Business Insider, there is a piece by Michael Brendan Dougherty that suggests Romney got used by Chairman Kevin Dewine in his super secret civil war with Governor John Kasich.

Now, there has been no love lost between these two; but, to suggest that the Ohio Republican Party (ORP) would stage an event with Romney to make Kasich look bad is absurd.

That's right. Absurd.

Absolutely NOTHING gets the blessing of the State Central Committee (SCC) that Chairman DeWine doesn't want approved. SCC supports and has endorsed Issue 2. So I find it highly unlikely that ORP forces oppose Issue 2 and want to risk Ohio's fiscal future in a bid to make Kasich look bad.

Furthermore, the old guard staffers are gone. Most of these guys on staff at ORP now have spent less time in this state than Secretary of State Jon Husted spent in his "residence" in Dayton the last decade while serving in the House and Senate. For those of you not from here, that's not a lot of time.

Never mind the fact that such behavior would be wildly inappropriate and highly unprofessional, I just don't think that these guys would deliberately stage an event that would make their guy look bad.

This is on Romney. He is the tool that got in over his head and decided to lick his finger and stick it to the wind. He punted. he should never have come to the event if he had no idea what he was doing or why he was there. His slick staff are the ones who dropped the ball.

UPDATE: Now the Mittster is "110%" on board with Question 2...whatever that is... What a tool.
