Niehaus Announces Senate Majority Staff Additions

(Columbus) - Ohio Senate President Tom Niehaus (R-New Richmond) announced today several new additions to the majority caucus staff.

Angela Meleca has been named press secretary for the majority caucus and spokesman for the President of the Senate. She brings to the position more than two decades of communications experience, including her role as managing editor and Statehouse bureau chief for the Ohio News Network. She most recently served as a media and public relations consultant, as well as vice president of public relations for a Columbus-based architecture firm. She previously served as public relations manager for Cardinal Health and helped develop two internet start-up companies specializing in state and local government. She is a graduate of The Ohio State University.

Kevin Bingle has joined the caucus staff as director of digital media. Kevin will oversee efforts to modernize and improve the Senate's constituent communications infrastructure, including websites, social media, email and video technologies. He recently worked as a campaign manager and digital media strategist on several local, legislative and statewide campaigns, including Governor John Kasich's successful gubernatorial effort in 2010. Kevin is a graduate of The Ohio State University.

Donn Parsons has been named deputy legal counsel for the majority caucus. Donn will assist chief legal counsel Frank Strigari, as well as helping to oversee policy development for the Judiciary and Government Oversight committees. He most recently served as a senior research assistant at the University of Chicago Law School. He previously worked as an aide to United States Attorney General John Ashcroft and as an honors associate for the Securities & Exchange Commission. He also worked as deputy director of government affairs at the American Center for Law & Justice. He received his undergraduate degree from Emory University and his law degree from the University of Minnesota School of Law.
