COLUMBUS – Today Gov. John R. Kasich ordered that flags at state facilities in Franklin County and at the Statehouse be flown at half-staff on Monday, April 9 in honor of Captain Nicholas Rozanski (Dublin), Sergeant First Class Shawn Hannon (Grove City), and Sergeant First Class Jeffrey Rieck (Columbus), Ohio National Guard members who were killed in action while serving our country in Afghanistan. Kasich issued the following statement:
“I’m saddened by the tragic loss of these soldiers and my family extends our prayers and deepest condolences to their families, friends and fellow Guard members. We also pray for the recovery of the four soldiers who were wounded during this attack. Our nation and the values we champion are made stronger by those with the courage to selflessly put their lives on the line for us. We honor these soldiers’ memory not only in our shared grief and by comforting their families, but also by doing all we can every day to make ourselves, our communities, our state and our nation worthy of their service and sacrifice.”
