Over Bush administration objections, many Democrats and Republicans in Congress want to ease the sticker shock of postwar operations in Iraq by requiring that Iraq repay up to $20 billion in proposed reconstruction aid.

Matt's Chat
I don't think adding another $20 BILLION to Iraq's forign debt is going to HELP them any...
Mark's Remarks
Rather than thinking about this rationally, i.e., Iraq has tons of debt and reparations, instead the liberals turn this into a class/price struggle. It is so typical of the liberals, who claim not to care about money so much as helping people. Iraqis need our help. They cannot pay us off immediately, but having a friend in OPEC and a friend who has the 2nd largest oil reserve is pretty darn good, isn't it? The libs in congress and the rep. dupes don't think so. This will not help matters. Of course, we will probably forgive the debt anyway in a few years.
