Spy Games: Was It Really A Secret That Wilson's Wife Was CIA?

Check out the story from the National Review.

Matt's Chat

I'm not sure that it matters whether or not it was well known by insiders that she was a spy. It certainly shouldn't have been leaked to a reporter. And an American reporter shouldn't have run with it at any rate... Or am I missing something?

Mark's Remarks

Matt, what you are missing is that CIA did nothing to stop the story. They did not come to Novak and tell him not to run the story, in fact, they even gave him further details about Mrs. Wilson. As far as I know, if Mrs. Wilson was an analyst, no laws were broken. And, I agree on your first point about leaks, but what do you expect? In an effort of setting a new tone of working together, Mr. Bush left plenty of Clinton hacks in Justice, State, and Commerce departments. They love talking to the press, especially to help their idols, Bill and Hill, or their lieutenant, Wes Clark. This is nothing compared to the smearing done during Travelgate, the Smear Investigation into the Clinton Women, the "mysterious" deaths of Vince Foster and Ron Brown, and several others who "died" mysteriously after being found a liability to the Clinton regime. The Bush Admin has nothing on the Clintons when it comes to dirty tricks. Do a websearch on Clinton's Criminal Friends, and you will be astounded. It makes that little list floating aorund the internet about Bush seem like a small pimple.
