California Recall

The California recall election was democracy edited like a movie trailer, a cinematic blur of 135 candidates, promises, polls and allegations of sexual groping. It was fun and exciting, a good show -- especially when viewed from a safe distance across a state line.

Matt's Chat

I generally am against the idea of recall, but it is the law in California and I am happy to see that California is on the right path... It is appearent that the will of Californians was to ouster a lame politican. Do I think Arnold was the right choice for California? Probably not, but it wasn't my choice to make. The people of California came out in great numbers and participated in the democratic process. I think that the recall has at least brought the political arena in focus in California and I don't think California will casually elect politicans for awhile. Those, like Jesse Jackson (does this guy LIVE in California?) who claim people were disenfranchised need to take another look at the numbers of people who voted. It is pathetic to suggest such lunacy.

Likewise, I am against the idea of impeachment. I said so when Clinton faced such and I oppose those who suggest that President Bush should face impeachment. Changing the electoral process, or the results thereof, is not the way democracy works. However, should a politican commit a crime, I believe that the due process of law must be followed.

Mark's Remarks

The thing that gets me about the pundits is they believe the people of California did not know what they are doing...obviously they did...This is only the 2nd governor in US history to be recalled. Another ludicrous thing is for the Dems to blame California's problems on President Bush. See, the personal attacks on Arnold didn't work, so maybe they can do like the Numbskull Nine and drum up hatred against Dubya. That, too, will backfire in time. Also, I hear raving racist lunatics like Jesse Jackson, who enrich themselves by holding corporations hostage, talk about disenfrancisement of people. HELLO!!!! The turnout for this election was bigger than the last gubernatorial election, and close to the last Presidential election. If anything, more people felt empowered to vote and make a difference. That is the real thing that scared Democrats and Liberals. They are afraid of the people actually making decisions for themselves. Well, all I can say today is....HASTA LA VISTA, GRAY....
