THE GOVERNATOR EFFECT.....

Call it the "Arnold Effect."
The straight-talking Hollywood action star's election win in California has had an electrifying impact on Germany, leading to calls Friday for top politicians to voice clear ideas in simple language or be swept away at the polls. Read the full story here.

Mark's Remarks

Boy, the liberals must really be hating this. Some of their allies in Germany look like they could be in trouble, right Herr Schroeder? It seems that Germans are tired of their country going to heck in a handbasket, and want politicians who say what they mean, in clear language...in other words, they do not want a double talking, liberal, what does 'is' mean person(s) running the show (Read Clintonesque, or Grayout Davis, who lied about budget issues). Instead, they are looking for straight talk. True to form worldwide, the Left is already attacking the common people who want change, calling such movements and suggestions of plain talkers Hitleresque, and casting allusions between Arnold and Hitler. Hmm...bet some of those paper correspondents have liberal cousins who write for the L.A. Times. It is great, as it seems the Germans will finally wake up and remove the uberpoliticians for people who want to help Germany and not just eat strudel. Who would have thought a moderate to liberal Republican could be the clarion call to attack liberalism around the world? Wow....Arnold, you better do a good job, because now the world is watching...You could be the posterchild for success of fiscal conservatives and outsiders, or you could be the posterchild for the liberals getting back in control....Choose wisely. And, if you fail, the Georgians won't name that mountain after you....(story)

Matt's Chat

People are tired of politics as usual. That's a lesson that both sides should take from the California recall. Call it whatever you want, but I hope the political powers that be have taken good notes. The discourse in this country (and apparently elsewhere) has gotten so bad that the people are fed up. Personal attacks and mudslinging doesn't endear any candidate to me, having a position on the issues that is coherent and in line with my values is what I look for in a candidate. I don't think I'm alone...
