Holy Warrior: The Investigation Begins
The Pentagon is launching a formal investigation into statements by a high-ranking Army officer that cast the U.S. fight against terrorists in religious terms, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld announced Tuesday.
Rumsfeld said the investigation was requested by the officer, Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin. But pressure has been growing on the Bush administration to reprimand the general or remove him from his Pentagon intelligence post.

Matt's Chat
My issue with this guy is that it comes off rather problematic to be fighting terrorism (not Islam) with a guy who is fighting Islam. Actually, I don't care what his personal views are...it is still a free country afterall, but I do have a problem with a member of our armed forces strapping on a uniform and ranting against Islam. We need Muslims on our side. This guy doesn't understand the nature of this conflict if he thinks this is about Christianity vs. Islam. And that doesn't speak well for a guy who is supposed to be heading up our military intelligence.Mark's Remarks
I could not agree more. While I do not believe in Islam, and while I am a Christian, I do not believe that all Muslims are evil. The people who are evil claim to be muslims, when in fact they worship a cult of personality around synchopants like Usama, Saddam, etc. This general should be removed, or should fall on his sword (figuratively) himself.
