WHERE'S FAIR AND BALANCED NOW, MR. LAUER?

Matt Lauer, half of the perky liberal mercenaries on the Today Show, is now accused by the National Enquirer of a cocaine habit, and an upcoming story will highlight accusations from his dealer. Check out Drudge for this developing story.

Matt's Chat

This will be an interesting story to watch develop. If true, I wish Mr. Lauer a speedy recovery in rehab and I offer my prayers to both Lauer and Limbaugh.

REVISED STATEMENT: In retrospect, after learning more about the story (okay, I haven't had time to READ the story yet, but have heard Sean Hannity's coverage and I have to agree with him), this is checkbook journalism. The National Enquirer is getting out of hand with this stuff. There is no reason to digging into someone's past if it isn't relevant. On the other hand, I'm sure Mr. Lauer used aup some of that liberal compassion during the Limbaugh coverage. So I'm back to having to take a "wait and see" attitude on yet another drug user...

Mark's Remarks

Why hasn't this led every single newscast, as the Rush story did? Matt Lauer is just as much a role model wannabe as Rush was, and is seen by a huge TV audience, and is seen as a hunk, a "good guy?" Could it be the liberal double standard? Could it be because this is not considered by liberals to be bad behavior? Of course, will Lauer admit to his problems, as Rush did? Probably not until we find coke stains on a blue blazer of his....Of course, nothing is ever an issue if it is in the past, just ask the Clintonites... Mr. Lauer and Ms. Couric have always been venomous to conservatives, and were very nasty with Rush's news. So, I wonder if Ms. Couric will shrew herself at Matt, now that he did drugs once? Probably not, because liberals are allowed aberrant behavior, and are to be pitied. It is only conservatives who are held to a higher standard. Of course, conservatives tend to aim high, while liberals like the lowball. Wow, no bias against conservatives, now, is there?
