Dukakis Slams the President
Buried deep in this article is this little nugget...
"Whoever the Democratic nominee will, in my judgment, be subjected to a brutal attack campaign by Bush," Dukakis said. "This is the worst national administration I’ve ever lived under, bar none. I want this guy out of there."

Matt's Chat
Brutal attack campaigns? WHAT! Did Mr. Dukakis see any of the Democratic ads that Mr. Gore ran in the last Presidential election? I don't know this for a fact, but I suspect that someone out there will know how to verify this, I believe the GORE campaign started with the smear tactics last time. We had to endure the "Bush is Stupid" campaign while we were supposed to buy that Gore "took the initiative to create the Internet" and this guy wants to say that Republicans generally, and President Bush specifically, engaged in brutal attack campaigns. I couldn't disagree more...Mark's Remarks
As usual, Matt, you stole my thunder. It was in fact the DNC and their acolytes who first launched the negative ads. As for Dukakis, he sabotaged his own campaign by trying to be tough on defense, instead of admitting he didn't have a clue. Dukakis did cause pollution to amass in Boston Harbor, and Dukakis did let Willie Horton out and he did commit murder. These were not smears...they were facts. Mike Dukakis, who would let this raving lunatic with the bad eyebrows teach youngsters anyway? He talks about folks getting out and doing something, no matter what, and yet he is trying to color their opinion by maligning the President. Well, Mr. Dukakis, I am glad you didn't win. Saddam would have developed nukes by now and your little Mass. town would be a cinder.
