HALLIBURTON

Paraphrased from the Opinion Journal:
The $100 billion Halliburton program was by far the largest operation in the history of the company. By extension, it's rapidly becoming Halliburton's largest-ever scandal.

After months of stonewalling, CEO David Lesar conceded Tuesday that the program was worthy of an federal investigation. It's a step forward, but it's not nearly enough for an organization that so far has shown it can't be trusted. That's why the April hearings by Henry Hyde's House Committee on International Relations will be so important. Halliburton is a legitimate U.S. concern, for reasons that go well beyond the fact that U.S. taxpayers foot about a quarter of the Halliburton's bills.
How's that for interesting? Did we get a few hamsters reading and shaking their heads? How about the REAL story from the Opinion Journal:
The $100 billion Iraqi Oil for Food program was by far the largest relief operation in the history of the United Nations. By extension, it's rapidly becoming the U.N.'s largest-ever scandal.

After months of stonewalling, Secretary General Kofi Annan conceded Tuesday that the program was worthy of an internal investigation. It's a step forward, but it's not nearly enough for an organization that so far has shown it can't be trusted to police itself. That's why the April hearings by Henry Hyde's House Committee on International Relations will be so important. Oil for Food is a legitimate U.S. concern, for reasons that go well beyond the fact that U.S. taxpayers foot about a quarter of the U.N.'s bills.

Matt's Chat

Why isn't this story getting any coverage? Why isn't the party of Love (tm) screaming for an investigation? Why aren't the Disciples of Doom (tm) admitting that the UN is not a responsible organization? And why isn't the Democrat Attack Squad (tm) protesting the abuse of the good people of Iraq by a brutal dictator (that's Saddam for you hamsters out there) and the nations/organizations that benefitted (that's France, Russia, and Kofi's son among others)?

Where is the outrage about this?

Hat tip to Tim Perry for leading us to this one...

Mark's Remarks

The answer is obvious: the liberal elite does not want to disparage their pet organization: the UN. They do not want to disparage the organization they would love to cede control over our interests to. Hamsters love Koffi, they think he kind of has a Sidney Poitier touch, despite the fact that his son looks to be responsible for one of the biggest scandals in international affairs, if not the biggest. They do not care that the UN takes our money and spits in our face, or that the UN routinely acts against US interests or positions, despite the fact we are one of the few countries that actually pay our dues.

The UN is broken. It is just like the Dimcrap party--hysterical, blame/hate America first people in control who cannot see reality even as it hits them in the face. They only care about their own power and influence, and do not desire to make things better. In fact, bad news is good news for them. You could be writing about the Dims OR The UN in any of these cases.

The UN needs to be looked into and cleaned up. There are too many vipers in the fold, and they must be rooted out.
