Dayton Daily Democrat

From the Dayton Daily News (free registration required):

Here is what the editorial board has to say about anti-Bush books out on the market.
Let's see. There's Richard Clarke's book. He's the former top terrorism guy who made the Bush administration jump to frantic counterattack.

The president's former secretary of the Treasury also has a book. He didn't really write it, but very much cooperated. He says the president didn't care about facts. That book, too, became the central subject of news out of Washington for a while.
...
Now comes Bob Woodward, who, if not an insider exactly, is somebody to whom the insiders enjoy talking; he might as well be an insider. And former Watergate insider John Dean has a book about the Bush administration called Worse Than Watergate.
Now here is what they have to say about any proposed anti-Kerry book(s):
As for Sen. John Kerry, the Democratic candidate for president, don't even ask. A respected historian has done one about his military service that's very positive. The Boston Globe has collected one. The candidate himself has written one. If there aren't any right-wing diatribes against him, there will be.
See how bias sneaks its way in there. Anti-Bush books come off as scholarly works; whereas any anti-Kerry book has to be a diatribe.

And here is the slam on talk radio:
This book phenomenon is not all bad. Books are certainly a more dignified way of approaching politics than, say, much of talk radio. If knowledgeable people get their say at great length, good.
I say it is a GREAT thing that people are discussing the issues of the day. I don't care if it is in a book or on talk radio, there are serious issues to discuss this election season. The Dayton Daily DemocratTM had better get used to us common folk having a say, we're not going anywhere anytime soon.
Anyway, most people who read political books are just trying to find an excuse to believe what they want to believe. That's the nature of politics in polarized 2004.
Don't bother reading this stuff, you might learn the TruthTM. The Dayton Daily DemocratTM will give you all the TruthTM that you need.

Give me a break. Just what we need, more elitist, liberal Partisan MediaTM punks telling us to trust them.

Learn all that you can learn about these guys running for office, folks; make your decision based on an informed choice. And don't trust that the Dayton Daily DemocratTM has your best interests at heart. They don't. They are merely afraid that alternative media will take away from their bottom line and actually sway your opinion. Don't give them the satisfaction.
