Tragedy in Kosovo

From the Southern Illinoisan
A former warden of Shawnee Correctional Center was killed and a Vienna resident critically injured Saturday when a Jordanian U.N. police officer opened fire on American correctional officers in Kosovo.

Former warden Kim Bigley, a 47-year-old Paducah resident who lived most of her life in southern and southwestern Illinois, and Gary Weston of Vienna, a retired employee of Shawnee Correctional Center, were among a group of DynCorp International employees who had just completed their first day of job orientation when the Jordanian fired on them as they left a Kosovo prison.
...
The Jordanian officer, who was also with the U.N. mission, was killed by return fire during a 10-minute gun battle. U.N. and local police officers sealed off the yard of the well-protected detention center. They took pictures and marked the bullet cartridges with numbers.

The body of a police officer, covered with what looked like a dark blue jacket, lay for hours in the yard of the prison compound where the shooting occurred. Four other Jordanian officers were detained for questioning by U.N. authorities.

Matt's Chat

Has anyone bothered to check what Kos thinks about the death of these "mercenaries"?

These guys were all on the same side so this boils down to a friendly fire incident. Question: weren't all these guys wearing their powder blue helmets?

This is a tragedy that appears to be senseless. My deepest condolences for the families...

Mark's Remarks

I don't give a flying leap what hamster crap like Kos thinks....he is a traitorous scumbag, in my book, for his comments about our men and women serving in Iraq. My heart goes out to the families, and you will be in my prayers...

I would also like to remind the audience to be in prayer for the folks being held in Iraq and their families. I live in a neighboring community to the town where one of the hostages was from. Hold them up in your prayers....
