Military Sexual Assault - Another Friendly Fire

From Yahoo News:
Sexual assaults by U.S. military men against their female comrades-in-arms amount to a different kind of "friendly fire" in the Iraqi-Afghan theater, victims' advocates told members of Congress on Wednesday.

"While these friendly fire attacks leave no trail of blood, they leave many damaged souls in their wake," Scott Berkowitz, president of the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, told a panel of women lawmakers. "They rob our country of the services of many we have trained and nurtured to protect us."

There have been 129 cases of sexual assault reported to the independent Miles Foundation in the current theater of operations -- Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan and Bahrain -- but only 27 were reported to military officials, according to foundation chief Christine Hansen.

Matt's Chat

I am very proud of the accomplishments of our brave men and women in uniform getting the job done. That said, I am most disgusted that this is still going on though. An organization like the armed forces of the United States of America should have a much better grip on this problem. It is an outrage that this happens at all.

Mark's Remarks

Amen, Matt.....

This is a travesty, but I am sure liberals will use it as a wedge issue, since they are famous for trying to destroy the esprit de corps of the military, especially when they haven't done it with all their other social experiments on the military...they will use this to seek restrictions and budget reductions, at a time when we do not need to do it.....Liberals will use this for their own self-serving ends, because that is what hamsters do......

I pray for these soldiers, and all our soldiers.....we are with you, and you are in our thoghts.....
