Could this by Why McCain is So Left These Days?
From al-Reuters via Yahoo News
Democratic challenger John Kerry said on Wednesday his first choice as defense secretary would be Republican Sen. John McCain as he criticized the Bush administration for failed policies in Iraq ....
"I have any number of people that I would make secretary of Defense, beginning with our good friend John McCain," Kerry said. McCain was not immediately available for comment.
Kerry listed several other possible candidates "who could manage it (the Pentagon) very effectively," including Democratic Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan and Republican Sen. John Warner of Virginia, the top ranking senators on the Armed Services Committee.
McCain's name has surfaced on the long lists of potential running mates for Kerry but he has denied any interest. In addition, Kerry used McCain's image in one of his campaign ads.

Mark's Remarks
I know Matt will disagree with this, and I am not saying it is fact. McCain seems to be testing the lefty waters. He was in favor of the 9/11 commission, and he continues to defend John Kerry, even though Mr. Kerry betrayed Vietnam vets when he came home, even though Mr. Kerry continues to use Vietnam as a political crutch, something McCain supposedly abhors.
Could McCain be playing politics to possibly move up in the political world? Could he be wanting to be a player in a Kerry Administration? If so, he needs to just be open and honest and admit he is a RINO, switch parties, and be done with it. I am tired of hearing his supposed support for the President, then he comes out and sides with some of the most vicious and wrongheaded people in the Senate in stabbing at the President. Mr. McCain, come clean....Either you are for the President or you are against him. Please quit trying to play both ends against the middle. Your credibility is at stake.
John McCain has joined the chorus of politicizing the war, and he has not spoken out against "his good friend" John Kerry enough about politicizing the war. It damages our troop morale, sir, and your continued feigned outrage over these pictures along with your Lib allies in the Senate is quite distasteful and disturbing. Don't you remember the Hannity Memo? Or are you a willing contributor to its stated aims of politicizing the war at the cost of troop lives and morale?
