Columbus Plot Exposed
From Dayton Daily News (Registration Required):
A federal grand jury in the Southern District of Ohio last week indicted Nuradin M. Abdi, a 32-year-old Somali native, on charges of providing material support to al-Qaida by conspiring with convicted al-Qaida member Iyman Faris to detonate a bomb at an unidentified shopping mall in Columbus the day after Thanksgiving, one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
...
At least two other unnamed co-conspirators are still at large, but federal officials said that they do not pose a threat because the federal government knows who they are. "We have a good idea of who they are and where they are," a federal law enforcement official said.
Ashcroft refused to say which Columbus mall was targeted or even whether Abdi's alleged accomplices are in the United States, citing an on-going investigation.
Matt's Chat
While we are winning, we still must be vigilant. These bastards want us dead; and while we're taking the fight to them, the possibility still exists that they are already here.DHS and Justice still have a LOT of work to do and they'll need our help.

And just in case you are one of those Krugman liberals who think we're not winning and that Justice hasn't had any success, Michelle Malkin has you covered:Krugman wrote:And neither are you. After two and a half years, during which he arrested and secretly detained more than a thousand people, Mr. Ashcroft has yet to convict any actual terrorists.
Oh? What about shoebomber Richard Reid? What about Taliban solider John Walker Lindh? What about Yahya Goba, Shafal Mosed, Yasein Taher, Taysal Galab, Mukhtar al-Bakri and Sahim Alwan of Lackawanna, New York? What about Jeffrey Battle, Patrice Ford, Ahmed Bilal, Muhammad Bilal, Habis Al Saoub and October Lewis of Portland, Oregon? How about Masoud Ahmad Khan, Seifullah Chapman, and Hammad Abdur-Raheem from the Washington DC area? What about James Ujaama?
Krugman is entitled to his opinion about Ashcroft, no matter how ridiculous, but as the saying goes, he is not entitled to his own facts.
Mark's Remarks
Some liberals would rather see dead Americans in the streets of the US than actually get behind efforts to protect her and her citizens, and why? Because they want power back.
We are winning, we are getting these guys, but it takes a nation. We have to stand vigilant, and we have to renew the Patriot Act, one of the best methods so far of getting info quickly and in the hands of authorities. It is time to stop being partisan and be practical. Of course, that may be next to impossible for the Kool-aid drinkers, who only care for power, above and beyond your safety. Please think about that when you vote, eh?
Do you want a group who will turn terrorism back to a fruitless exercise in legal papers? Or do you want a government that will go after them with the full arsenal of the US? Do you want to fight the war in Columbus or Cincinnati, or do you want to fight them in Ramallah, Baghdad, and over there? The choice is clear.
