Mayors Report

From US NEwswire:
Mayors recently released a new Homeland Security Report that assesses the flow of federal homeland security funds through the states to the cities. The new report, released last week during the 72nd Annual Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Boston, reveals that while there has been some improvement, 52 percent of the 231 cities surveyed are still left empty-handed, have not received any money, nor have been notified that they will receive money from the state-block grant program -- the largest homeland security program -- which is designed to assist first responders such as police, fire, and other local officials.

Matt's Chat

I thought I'd post this here with a little prediction... Who wants to bet against me that we'll start hearing that the evil Bush Administration isn't funding the Homeland Security initiatives? Any takers? Lemme highlight the key word in this paragraph:

Knowing the media as we do, any takers?

Now, how much will you pay?

Mark's Remarks

NOTE: THESE WERE BLOCK GRANTS GIVEN TO STATE GOVERNMENTS. Therefore, it is the states' responsibility to get the job done distributing. The federal government distributed the funds to the states, adequate funds. Now it is the states who need to get the job done. Do you think maybe in the states who haven't distributed they might be run by liberals trying to hold up the funds to make the President look bad? Wouldn't that be an interesting investigation? Will it be undertaken by the media? Will the media lay the blame properly on the states' doorstep? Answer: probably not, no, definately not. To actually report this truth would go against the Gobbels-ian lie that Bush does not fund first responders or has adequately funded improvements.
