West Wing Bushie?

From the Media Research Center:
Not all Hollywood celebrities are ungrateful, anti-American lefties. Prompted by a Wall Street Journal mention a couple of weeks ago about how actor Ron Silver denounced the head of the European parliament for his anti-American attitude, FNC's Beltway Boys brought Silver aboard their Saturday show.

Silver, who plays liberal campaign strategist "Bruno Gianelli" on NBC's The West Wing, made clear he does not agree with the politics of the show's “President Bartlet,” Martin Sheen. Silver told Beltway Boys co-hosts Fred Barnes and Morton Kondracke that Europeans “criticisms are logically incoherent...they hold inconsistent views that we’re utterly materialistic, and then we’re insufferably religious. We’re boring conformists, and then we’re reckless individualists. We’re racists, but then we’re too politically correct.” When Kondracke suggested it's a problem caused by George W. Bush since Europeans liked Bill Clinton, Silver refused to accept the premise.

Matt's Chat

I knew I liked the Bruno character for a reason...

I caught Silver on the O'Reilly Factor last night in which he denounced the Michael Moore wing of the Democratic Party that engaged in a shameful display at a Kerry fundraiser last week. The tape of which, by the way, the Kerry/Edwards campaign will not release. Seems the "heart and soul of the country" would be embarassing for the campaign.

Kerry/Edwards should denounce these folks and get it over with...similarly they should denounce the extremists planning to cause havoc at the conventions this summer.

Mark's Remarks

Mr. Silver was like a breath of fresh air. He did not say he despised John Kerry, he did not say that all Hollywood liberals are evil, nor did he say that conservatism is the answer. Mr. Silver, a democrat, merely stated that he thought his party's shift to the far left was wrong and intellectually falliable. He brought up a great point that Bush's idea for beachheads of democracy is actually one that was traditionally a democrat ideal, one that liberals talked about all during the 1940s and 1950s. Mr. Silver said that his Hollywood friends don't pay attention to what is going on, and they do not use common sense and logic. He was calling for open and honest debate, not hate and vitriol. It was wonderful to see, and I wish more people would advocate that. Now I know that sounds funny from someone who helped coin the term hamster, but really, I would much rather debate these things in a friendly way and argue over position (as I believe I mostly do) instead of namecall even when the person I am yelling at has done something I agree with. Mr. Silver, I salute your courage and hope your standing up to the vast Hollywood Left Wing Conspiracy will not hurt your career. Who knows, it might get a Mel Gibson boost!

John Kerry Delenda Est!
