20 Reasons for 4 More Years

By Matt Hurley for the TIB Network:

Fellow blogger Bill Hobbs issued a challenge:
I would like to compile a list of the 10 best reasons to vote FOR George W. Bush that have nothing to do with terrorism or Iraq, and the ten best reasons to vote AGAINST John "Fickle" Kerry that have nothing to do with terrorism, Iraq or Vietnam.
I thought I could do that...here are my results:

10 Reasons to Vote FOR Bush

  • Tax Cuts: A pro-growth agenda is best for our economy. Job creation is a side effect of having more money in the investment system.

  • Patriot Act: Vital legislation for homeland security.

  • Judicial Nominees: It is absolutely vital that we get judges on the bench who are not activists.

  • No Child Left Behind: Amazing legislation that brings accountability to our nation’s schools. It must be protected and enhanced.

  • Medical Liability Reform: The key to the health care crisis. How many stories have we heard where doctors are leaving their practices because of high malpractice insurance costs running them out of business.

  • Social Security Accounts: A great approach for a program in dire straits. President Bush has promised no changes for those in the system or those about to retire.

  • Health Care Savings Accounts: A vast improvement over any socialized medicine scheme.

  • Clear Skies Initiative: Reductions in power plant emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and mercury by 70 percent while providing help the states meet tougher air quality standards sounds like a good idea to me.

  • Opportunity Zones: This initiative encourages private and public investment within needy communities. In exchange for reducing local barriers to growth and development, these Opportunity Zones would receive tax benefits to encourage businesses to locate, invest, and hire new workers in the community. The plan includes incentives to spur the development of residential construction. These areas will also receive priority consideration for Federal education, job training, and housing funding.

  • Maintaining Integrity of Strategic Oil Reserves: The President would never tap into the reserves unless he were required to do so for strategic purposes, not political reasons.

  • 10 Reasons to Vote AGAINST Kerry

  • Foreign Policy: Kerry actually thinks that the United Nations is still relevant.

  • Taxes: Kerry has a record of raising taxes.

  • Health Care: The Kerry health plan would draw much of the private health insurance market into a nationwide "health alliance" created and tightly regulated by the federal government.

  • Economy: Kerry supports the Kyoto Accords.

  • Jobs: Kerry’s New Job Tax Credit won’t work. It will reward companies who laid workers off and rehire rather than companies who didn’t lay off workers.

  • School Choice: Kerry voted no on school vouchers back in 1996. No reason to think he’s for it today.

  • Immigration: Kerry wanted to grant amnesty to anyone over the age of 5 or 6. (Sept 2003)

  • Energy: Kerry says he wants America to be less dependent on foreign oil, yet does not support drilling in ANWR.

  • Humanity: Kerry voted NO on banning human cloning. (Feb. 1998)

  • Kerry would make volunteerism a graduation requirement instead of a personal offering of self. (“100 Days to Change America”)
  • I'm sure I missed a whole lot for both lists...
