From John Kerry's own mouth:Mr. Kerry's speech started out with some rather unintelligible talk about his not seeing much of the convention (then why respond to it?) and flying around here and there. He sounded rather incoherent, and he compounded this with giving an inaccurate (at the time) description of the gap between the Yankees and Red Sox (maybe the real gap was hidden in his magic hat?). For someone whose running mate spent 15 minutes decrying hate speech in politics, John Kerry opened with a line that RNC stands for Really Not Compassionate...hehehe....how droll. What does DNC mean, Johnny? Dems Not Comprehending? Then he said something about five words, and something that Bush was all hat, no cattle. Could that mean Bush is all brains, no bs? My, is Johnny seeing the light....But wait, his direct speech gets better (sarcasm, for you dim libs out there).
The election comes down to this. If you believe this country is heading in the right direction, you should support George Bush. Thanks for the advice, John. Truly the smartest thing you have said yet.
But if you believe America needs to move in a new direction, join with us. John and I offer a better plan that will make us stronger at home and more respected in the world.Johnny, how wrong you are. I want to be safer in the world. I could care less what France and Germany think. Obviously you think the respect and cooperation of 30+ nations is not worth two crying relics of old Europe. And you say you want to bring allies together? How do you think your comments make our current allies feel?
We offer responsible leadership and with your help, we're going to bring that leadership to the Washington!
You never were responsible enough to attend more than 24% of intel meetings. You never were responsible enough to get one key piece of legislation with your name on it passed. Do we want that in Washington, the lax attitude of rich debutantes? I don't think so.
For four days in New York, instead of talking about real plans for creating jobs, strengthening the economy, expanding health care, and bringing down gas prices, we heard almost nothing but anger and insults from the Republicans. And I'll tell you why. It's because they can't talk about the real issues facing Americans. They can't talk about their record because it's a record of failure. For almost 8 months, instead of talking about security and the economy, we have heard almost nothing but anger and "I served in Vietnam" from you, Senator Kerry. And let ME tell you why. It is because you can't talk about real issues facing Americans, like giving them more control of their lives. You can't talk about your own record in the Senate because it is a record of failure and flip-flops.
Tonight, President Bush got up and told us that he's got a plan for the economy.John, how would you know? You didn't watch the speech. Oh, wait, did you use the Laphamized crap put forth by ABC news? Could that be it? Here you go again, giving false impressions. You act like you saw the President's speech, kind of like you were in Cambodia in 1968 when Nixon was President. Oh, wait. Nixon wasn't President, and you weren't in Cambodia...my bad....
That's exactly what he said four years ago.Well, John, you see, candidates talk about what they are going to do. Unlike your speech, where you spent what seemed like an hour talking about 4 months 35 years ago, and only 50 seconds on your Senate Record; this President was looking to the future.
But with the largest deficit in American history, I don't think we can afford four more years of this president's plans. That's because for four years, this president has taken us in the wrong direction.John, John....You propose over 900 billion dollars in increases in spending, and you want to talk about the Deficit????? Let's see....In just the last year, we have gone from 6.4 unemployment to 5.3, and we have created about 1.7 million jobs....Wow, if that is the wrong direction, sign me up! Let me guess, you aren't responsible for this mislead--someone in your campaign wrote this for you....I mean, that is the excuse for every miscue, isn't it? And you don't even have Susan Estrich to blame....
But the plans he offered tonight are just more of the same policies that are failing at home and in Iraq now. And we know he won't change them. In fact, the President is quite proud of the fact that not even failure will force him to change course.Keep on insulting the efforts of our soldiers in Iraq. They don't think that they are failing. But wait, I know...it must be because they are brainwashed by the bourgeosie, right? I mean, that is what you think, just like Karl, right? This President has shown princpled stands on the issue. You, on the other hand were for the war, against the war, for the war, would have voted the same wway, would do everything different...ACK! It makes the head spin, you flip flop so much! Let me guess--tomorrow when you go before the veterans' group, you will say we are doing well....And John, how would you know about the plans offered tonight? You and your audience didn't even listen to the speech? So, therefore, how would you know his policies are the same, eh?
You all saw the anger and distortion of the Republican Convention. For the past week, they attacked my patriotism and my fitness to serve as Commander-in-chief.
John, except for Zell Miller, I didn't see anger at the convention. I saw clear differences, but not anger. I heard Arnold talk about his immigrant experience, and I heard John McCain encourage us to keep the faith (you don't think Senator McCain is hateful, do you John?), and I heard a President talk about his agenda. As for attacking your patriotism, MAN, CAN YOU LIE ANY MORE? I see in every major speech references to respect for your service. Even in that "hateful" Zell Miller's speech, he says he is not attacking your patriotism. I hate to tell you John, but questioning your Senate record is not attacking your patriotism. It is called looking at issues by anyone NOT on your campaign or drinking your Kool-Aid. As for fitness to serve as Commander-in-Chief, wasn't it you who called for (how droll) "regime change"? Wasn't it you who allowed your surrogates to lower the level of discourse with Bu$Hitler signs and commercials? Just checking....
We'll, here's my answer. I will not have my commitment to defend this country questioned by those who refused to serve when they could have and by those who have misled the nation into Iraq.John, come on now. This shows your level of arrogance and lack of preparation, surely the fault of some campaign staffer, I am sure. Zell Miller served in the military, and he questioned your judgement on issues. Are we going to spend the whole campaign listening to you say that any criticism of your Senate Record is an attack on your patriotism? Yawn....As for the part about service, wasn't it the Junior Senator from Massachusetts who in 1992 and 1996 said that Vietnam service should not be used to discredit Bill Clinton? Wasn't it that same Senator said to do so would be to drag up the pain of the war? Gee, Senator, isn't that what you are doing?
The Vice President called me unfit for office last night. Well, I'll leave it up to the voters to decide whether five deferments makes someone more qualified to defend this nation than two tours of duty. Now John, let's not be bitter because your request for deferrment to study in France for a year was rejected....Come on now, look at your statements about using Vietnam service to discredit a candidate back in the Clinton years...Oh, wait, was that a staffer's fault for this seeming incongruity, as well? Or do your core values twist in the wind?
Let me tell you what I think makes someone unfit for duty. Misleading our nation into war in Iraq makes you unfit to lead this nation. Then I guess you are unfit, as well, since you had THE SAME INTELLIGENCE as the President and still authorized war. In fact, your on the record statements until the Primaries were all about being in favor of the war. Therefore, Senator, you are just as "guilty" as the President, because you authorized the use of force. I guess the staffer didn't read the bill to you as well as they should have, huh?
Doing nothing while this nation loses millions of jobs makes you unfit to lead this nation. Letting 45 million Americans go without healthcare makes you unfit to lead this nation.John, read the papers....Lowering the unemployment rate a whole point in a year, 1.7 million jobs created in the last 12 months...144,000 new jobs last month....Sound familiar...it might if you would take your fingers out of your ears.... As for the insurance, if you would have listened to the speech, the President talked about health savings accounts, something which has worked tremendously well in Texas and other states, and which has merit because it gives the individual responsibility...ooops, there is that kryptonite again...sorry.
Letting the Saudi Royal Family control our energy costs makes you unfit.John, does your brain ever get tired from taking all these different positions? Just a month or so ago you chastised the President for NOT forcing the Saudis to lower prices...Now, you are grabbing the black helicopter line of thinking about Saudi Royal family ties...Sheesh, what next, a Halliburton reference?
Handing out billions of government contracts to Halliburton while you're still on their payroll makes you unfit. That's the record of George Bush and Dick Cheney. And that only scratches the surface. This is getting like a tired script already. You can see the fanaticism coming...At this point Senator Kerry gets this glint of madness in his eye and a scowl...Really Presidential, Mr. Kerry, attacking the President with these base charges. Bush has never been on Halliburton's payroll, and the VP would be exceptionally stupid to be laundering money with all the scrutiny...I mean, come on, do you think he is as arrogant and flip as Hillary and Bill? OK, bad reference...Hey, maybe you should ask your buddy John Glenn about taking money from the Senate that didn't belong to him?
I believe it's time to move America in a new direction; I believe it's time to set a new course for America. And together, you, John Edwards and I will do that on November 2nd.And that course is letting France decide when we can defend ourselves. That course is increased taxes and an expanded welfare state. That course is trial lawyers making more and more off of frivolous lawsuits. Gee, isn't that a great vision. By the way, John, what is the nature of this new direction? What is your plan? (cricket, cricket)
He's misled America's workers - he told them his economic plan would create 6 million jobs. The truth is we've lost nearly 1.8 million since George Bush took office. He said his plan would create 266,000 jobs in Ohio. Instead Ohio has lost 230,000 jobs since he took office -- 112,000 jobs since the recession ended in November of 2001. Earlier this week, his Labor Secretary even said outsourcing was good for America. I don't believe that. John and I have a plan that will put an end to tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas and reward companies who create and keep jobs here in America. And we have a plan that will give tax credits to employers who create new jobs - and we'll eliminate capital gains taxes for those who make long-term investments in their small businesses. We'll also help small businesses meet the rising costs of health care - costs that keep so many of them from hiring and expanding.Where to begin? Senator, do you even remember 9/11/01 and the terrible blow to the economy? You were probably out sailboating or something....We have gained 1.7 million new jobs in the last year. We have lowered the unemployment rate 1 full point in less than a year...these numbers got Bill Clinton reelected...As for the Ohio stuff, how many times do we have to say it? The state controls that job growth. If Bob Tax were not as repressive to industry as he has been, Ohio would have two to four new automotive plants that went elsewhere. Bush is not at fault, Bob Taft is. As for your other plans--are you going to punish Teresa's company? How are you going to pay for all this? Where is the plan? (cricket, cricket)
For four years, George Bush has misled America's families - saying he had a health care plan for America. The truth is he's done nothing as 5 million more Americans have lost their health care, bringing the total number to 45 million people without coverage nationwide. In Ohio, 114,000 people have lost their health coverage since bush took office, bringing the total number of Ohioans without coverage to 1.4 million. John and I have a plan to make quality health care affordable for all. Because we believe that your health care is as important as any politician's in Washington, DC.Any doctor, any medical professional will tell you that the rising healthcare insurance costs are not the result of EVIL(tm) corporations but rather frivolous lawsuits. Lawsuit money comes from somewhere, namely through higher prices passed on to the consumer. Gosh, John, haven't you ever taken any economics courses? Geez....man, didn't you go to Yale? And do we honestly believe you would do something to lower health insurance costs when you are in bed with the trial lawyers? I mean, your running mate made his fortune on chasing ambulances and driving insurance costs up....
When it comes to getting gas prices under control, George Bush has misled America. America is more dependent than ever on Mid- East oil. John and I have a plan to make America energy independent by investing in new technologies and alternative fuels. John and I believe we need to rely on American ingenuity and brainpower to ensure our country's freedom and independence, not on the Royal Saudi family.John, maybe one of your crack staffers (since you blame them anyway) didn't give you the President's plan. It calls for that new investment in alternative sources. Of course, we know we can't build on Cape Cod because evne though the windfarms would help thousands, we can't have it obstructing your view. As usual, a liberal is willing to sacrifice, as long as he doesn't have to sacrifice anything of his own. As for oil issue, DRILL IN ANWR!!!! The natives there want it! The caribou flourish when we drill, and we have technology that can get it with minimal harm to the environment. After all, the area we are talking is dank, dark, and a wasteland. And the oil there would lead America to be more self sufficient. If that is what it is about John, then why are you falling to the environmental lobby despite study after study that shows the benefits outweigh the negatives of drilling at ANWR?
Worst of all, George Bush misled America when he took us to war in Iraq. The truth is, when it comes to Iraq, it's not that I would have done one thing differently, I would've done almost everything differently. I believe it's time we had a president who told the American people the truth.I believe it was a junior Senator from Massachusetts who said don't vote for me if you don't think Saddam is a danger. I believe it was a junior senator from MA who said that he would vote again for the war if he had to do it over again. Wait, that was last week. I forgot...You change positions more times than a practitioner of the Kama Sutra. Just like, "I actually did vote for the 87 billion, before I voted against it." Just like owning SUVs vs. your family owning them. Just like medals and ribbons are interchangeable....The list goes on and on. Could someone give this guy a core already?
We need to take America in a new direction. And we have a specific plan to do just that.Still waiting on that one, John. Where is this plan? Where is the plan for fighting terror? What's that? Ask Kofi....oh, is that the plan?
So tomorrow morning, John and Elizabeth and Teresa and I are hitting the road on a bus tour across America's heartland. From here, we'll go out and talk with Americans in towns across Ohio, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Michigan. And because a stronger America begins at home, we'll talk about our plan to create jobs, cut taxes for the middle class, lower health care costs, and make America safer and more secure.Gee, John, thanks for spending some time with us in flyover country. Even though you have no idea about how we live, thanks for the photo ops. John, you are sounding an awful lot like Pat Buchanan with this isolationist view, you know. And John, we are still waiting on specifics for making America more secure...What's that? Ask Schroeder and Chirac? Is that your plan? What about preventing attacks instead of waiting to be attacked? What about being proactive? What about improving intelligence? My bad, I forgot. You missed 76% of the intel meetings and refuse to release the records of the private meetings. I forgot also that you continue to spend more time talking about Vietnam than in talking about terrorism. I forget that you talk about raising taxes, which any economist can tell you will limit investment. Could someone please stop this guy, he is making this too easy!
I believe we can be stronger at home - we can create jobs again, get health care costs under control, and make ourselves independent of Mid-East oil - but George Bush's policies won't get us there. And I believe we can be more respected in the world - but it won't happen with George Bush's arrogant, go-it-alone foreign policy.John, you really must keep that blood pressure in check. I am sensing a Dean moment coming. And I am still waiting to hear about this grand plan....As for the oil independence, I guess as long as we don't do anything on Cape Cod we are OK....As for the go it alone strategy, ask the UK, South Korea, Italy, and others if we are going it alone....you talk about stubbornness and arrogance, yet you discount the aid these countries are providing...and why? Because your favorite nation France and their friend Germany (a marriage of convenience based on oil deals with Iraq) don't like what America is doing? France critized our handling of WWII as we were landing to liberate them! De Gaulle refused to ask the French to assist our soldiers, because he wasn't brought into the plan soon enough. I have news for you, John--the French simply don't like us. So quit kissing their rear. Are we going to ask the French for permission to defend ourselves?
And I am still waiting on any specific plans, John? Still waiting.....(yawn)...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
